Carl Wastaferro, of Medford, died Monday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 97.
Mr. Wastaferro was born in Yatesboro, PA, the son of the late Angelo and the late Josephine (Miuccio) Wastaferro. Carl lived with his family in Oklahoma and Southern Illinois before he settled in the Boston area when he was 19. With natural ability in many areas, Carl worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard as an electrician and for many years was with the manufacturing firm, Globe Union Inc., Medford, before his retirement. A Medford resident since 1960, Carl lived his last few years at the assisted living community, Fuller House of Stoneham.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Masino). He was a devoted father to Josephine Newell and her husband Lewis of Stoneham, James C. Wastaferro and his wife Irene of Revere. He was a loving grandfather of 5 and great grandfather to 2. he was the brother of Benedict Wastaferro of CA and the late Mary Sambrone, Rose Dobbs, Sally Dahlstedt
John and Angelo Wastaferro.
Friends and family may visit Thursday from 5 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, Friday at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
