Edward A. McArdle, Jr., 74, of Continental Road, Greenville died Friday in Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Jacqueline (Marques) McArdle. They had been married for 50 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Edward A. and Irene B. (Taylor) McArdle. He had lived in Smithfield since 1978 previously living in Providence. He had worked with the City of Providence DPW, Marcello Meat Packing Company and Johnson and Wales University.
Edward was an avid softball player and was a New England sports fan rooting for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. He had been a member of the Teamsters Local 251.
Besides his wife he leaves his daughter, Laurie A. Lanctot and her husband Joel of Lincoln, his son, Edward A. McArdle of Greenville, his grandsons, Nicholas, Ian and Noah, a sister, Arlene N. Palmieri and her husband Louis of Warren. He was the father of the late William R. McArdle and brother of the late John McArdle.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
