Johnny Wayne Charles, 62, of Rome died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehab in Cedartown. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Conway Harris will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 25, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Charles was born on August 19, 1951, in Cherokee County, Alabama and was the son of Arlin Charles and Minnie Collins Charles, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Wayne Charles and Robby Dewayne Charles; one brother, Arlin Edward “Buddy” Charles; and two sisters, Vicki Little and Lessie King. He was a self-employed brick mason and grew up in Tifton.
Mr. Charles is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Lewis Stevens of Tullahoma, Tennessee; one brother, Donnie “D-Duck” Charles of Rome; and five sisters, Peggy Frances Vaughn of Valley Head, Alabama, Joyce Burgess of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, Betty Crane of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, Hazel Steele of Centre, Alabama, and Lillie Mae Satcher of Rome.
