Obituary

Alan L. Hayward, Sr., 61 of Derry, NH died Monday, November 8, 2004 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Mr. Hayward was born in Rumford, ME on June 22, 1943, a son of the late Ernest and Alice (Marston) Hayward. He was a resident of Derry for 28 years, formerly living in N. Reading, MA. Mr. Hayward worked as a truck driver and warehouse manager in Reading, MA, as a truck driver for NEMF (New England Motor Freight) for three years and then as a truck driver for the DPW in the Town of Derry for eight years, retiring in 1996. He served in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam and was a member of the American Legion Lester Chase Post #9 in Derry and VFW Post #1617 in Derry. He enjoyed traveling, working in his workshop and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Hayward of Derry, a daughter, Dawn Hayward of Tewksbury, MA, a son, Alan Hayward, Jr. and his wife Karen of Chester, NH, three grandchildren and two sisters.

According to Mr. Hayward’s wishes, there will be no services. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Birch Street, Derry, NH is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
