Sr. Maria Croteau, pm, (Sr. Ste Marie du Cenacle), 89, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, died May 15, 2014.
She was born in Berlin, NH on November 22, 1924, the daughter of Gedeon and Delia (Brunelle) Croteau. She made her first profession on July 1, 1944 and final profession on August 15, 1949.
Sr. Maria taught in elementary Parochial schools throughout the New England area including Cascade, Berlin, Hudson, Manchester, Portsmouth, NH as well as in Aldenville, MA and Artic and Woonsocket, RI. She rendered community services as nurse's aide at St. Marie Infirmary in Manchester and other services at St. Bernard in Keene and at Presentation of Mary Community in Hudson, NH.
She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Joseph Croteau and a sister, Julia Martin.
Family members include Diana Dubay of Sanford, ME, Lillian Phipps and her husband Ben of Bakesfield, CA, Roland Croteau of Gray, TN, Simone Lajoie of Greenland, NH, Andrew Croteau and his wife Carol of Portsmouth, Leon Croteau and his wife Barbara of Dover; many other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in the Resurrection Chapel of St. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Road, Manchester, NH. Burial followed in the Presentation of Mary Cemetery in Hudson, NH.
