Obituary

CHICOPEE – Paul G. Bourque, 53, a longtime resident of Chicopee, passed into Eternal Life on Thursday, May 15, 2014. He was born in Holyoke on November 26, 1960, a beloved son of Connie A. (Paquette) Bourque of Chicopee and the late Donald W. Bourque. Paul resided in Chicopee for most of his life and later moved to Windsor Locks, Connecticut where he resided for several years before moving to Ludlow around 2011. He graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1978 where he was active in their high school band. In 1983, Paul graduated Cum Laude from New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Boston. He was a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Massachusetts and Connecticut and worked for several funeral homes. His real passion was music. He played the saxophone, the keyboard and the organ. At the age of 15, he began playing the organ at his home parish of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He also played the organ at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee as well as many other area churches. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a two-term Grand Knight at the Riverside Council 26 in Windsor Locks, CT. He was also a longtime member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus, where he volunteered for many of the council functions. Paul enjoyed catering and cooking for large groups. He served for eight years on the Board of Directors at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee where he volunteered and cooked. He was a member of the Moose Family Center since 1990 where he also volunteered and cooked for many of their functions. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Besides his beloved mother, Connie, he leaves his brother and sisters, John K. Bourque of Springfield, Joan B. Archambault and her husband, Dr. Gary Archambault, of West Springfield, and Amy L. Bourque of South Hadley; his sister-in-law, Nila Bourque of Gulf Breeze, FL; his nephews and niece, Andrew D. Bourque, 2nd Lt. Pamela A. Bourque (USAF), Dr. Cole G. Archambault and his wife, Maris Mann-Stadt, and Adam C. Bourque; and his uncles, Donald G. Paquette and his wife, Nancy, of Granby, and Kenneth D. Paquette and his wife, Marianne, of Chicopee. Besides his father, he was also predeceased by his brother, Steven D. Bourque and his sister-in-law, Antonietta Bourque. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
