Shupe, Robert V. "Bob" Jr. 80, of Wellesley, died peacefully on May 13, 2014, surrounded by loving family and friends, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born in Buffalo, New York on February 27, 1934 and raised in Rocky Grove, PA. Beloved husband of and survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan M. (Sullivan) Shupe.
Wonderful father to Rob J. Shupe and his wife Wende of Wellesley; Jennifer S. Fields and her husband James of Ft. Collins, CO; and Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Shupe of Boston.
He was also a loving grandfather to Bobby and Kathryn Shupe, and Liam Fields. He was the son of the late Robert V. Shupe and Clara (Seagle) Shupe and brother to his late sister Judy. He is also survived by his sister Joan Poole of Rocky Grove and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob pursued everything with passion and vigor, receiving an engineering degree from University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration degree from Northeastern University. Most recently, he was the Owner and President of Gourley Company of Waltham and was the former President of Bay State Gas. He served as a Warden of Ancient Suppliers, member of the Northeastern University National Council, and President of New England Gas Association. Member of Brae Burn Country Club of West Newton. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed playing chess and tennis. Bob also loved working with wood, creating toys and furniture for his family.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16), Wellesley, Saturday at 10AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley at 11AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home, Friday from 4-8PM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
