Claire N. (Hillman) Britto, 75, of New Bedford died Tuesday May 13, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Roderick J. and Eva (Lopes) Hillman, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Britto was formerly employed by Cornell-Dublier, Carol Cable and AMI for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her cat "Sweet-Pea." She had a good sense of humor.
Survivors include 4 sons, Everett Britto of Kinston, NC, Jonathan Britto and Edward Britto, both of New Bedford and Jeffrey Britto and his wife Tracy of Wendell, NC; 6 daughters, Jacqueline Toles and her husband Roscoe of O'Fallon, IL, Geraldine Shulterbrandt and her husband Theodore, Kathryn Adams, A.K.A. Jean Britto, and Francesca Bergantim and her husband Luis, all of New Bedford, Jennifer Britto of New Bern, NC and Jessica Britto and her companion Gregory Ferland of Fall River; a brother, Randall Hillman of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Alene Borges and her husband Manny of New Bedford; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the former wife of the late Francis P. Britto and the sister of the late Janet DeMello.
Her visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford with a prayer service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
