PROVIDENCE. RI …Roland Donat Couture, 82, of Fall River died Tuesday May 13, 2014 at Philip Hulitar Center. He was the husband of Annette (Gamache) Couture.
He was born in Fall River a son of the late Lionel and Alida (Gibeau) Couture and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a communicant of St. Bernadette’s Parish. He was employed as a maintenance technician for 37 years retiring in 1994 from Globe Manufacturing.
Mr. Couture served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Roland was a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Prevost Council #1218 and the Over the Hill Gang. He enjoyed working with wrought iron, bowling, caring for his fish and plants and was a hometown sports fan – Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Celtics and Patriots.
Survivors include his widow, 2 Daughters: Denise D. Gagne and her husband Ron of Fall River, Janelle C. Arruda and her husband Ken of Westport, 2 Sons: Paul G. Couture and his wife Donna and David L. Couture and his wife Darlene both of Fall River, 9 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur Couture, Leo Couture, Doris Brodeur, and Pauline Kingston.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held FRIDAY at 9AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Bernadette’s Parish, 529 Eastern Ave, Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Rd, Fall River. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 – 8 PM.
