Obituary

Travis Otis Clement, age 74, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. He was born September 7, 1939 in Opelousas, LA to the late Travis Wilbur and Lydia Andrus Clement. Travis served in the United States Air Force, was a member of the board of Compassion Ministries, a former Cub Scout leader, former Alderman-at-large, commissioner with the Water Valley Housing Authority, former board member of Yalobusha Country Club, former president of Magnolia Youth League where he was instrumental in establishing girl‘s softball, former president of the Booster Club, former member and past president of the Yalobusha Gideon's, and former member of the J.C.’s and the Lion’s Club. He was employed as Plant Manager of Holley/Borg-Warnerin Water Valley where he retired after 29 years of service. Travis was a dedicated and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley where he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon chairman and choir member. He enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Water Valley, with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Eddie Mitchell, Larry Smith, Andy Jones, Ken French, Dwain Vinson, Jim Gholson, Jim McNeely, and Wally Smith serving as pallbearers. Dr. Paul Odom, Jerry Fondren and members of the Odom Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Travis is survived by his wife, Jeannie Moxley Clement of Water Valley, MS; his daughters, Charlotte (Steven) Gray of Horn Lake, MS and Denise Tate of Memphis, TN; his son, Lance (Andrea) Clement of Water Valley, MS; nine grandchildren, Drew (Amber) Gray, Courtney Gray, Caitlin (Joseph) Magnuson, Camron Gray, Roman Tate, Brook Tate, Cooper Clement, Coulter Clement, Chloe Clement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett Clement and Sherman Ray Clement.
