Nell B. Smith, age 93, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Southaven, MS. She was born April 7, 1921 in Tate County, MS to the late Edward Lois and Mary Agnes Brewer Brown. Nell worked as a shipping clerk for Pennaco in Grenada, MS where she retired after 30-plus years of service. Until her health declined she was an active and faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church in Oakland, MS where she formerly served as a Sunday school teacher, a choir member and was a past member of the WMU. Nell was dedicated to her family.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 16, 2014 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Jimmy Hood officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland City Cemetery, Oakland, MS.
Nell is survived by her two daughters, Linda Bailey of Cleveland, MS and Sandra Wadsworth (Carl) of Ft.Worth, TX; her son, Ron Smith (Marie) of Southaven, MS; her sister, Juanita Boggan (Brooks) of Vicksburg, MS; two brothers, James Brown of Lucedale, MS and Howard Brown (Sally) of Hernando, MS; three grandchildren, Jeff VanCleave (Debbie), Denise Green (Todd) and David Bailey (Colleen); and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Smith; her brother, Eugene Brown and her granddaughter, Amanda Abel.
