Bukovich, Arthur J.
Age 91, on May 12, 2014. Longtime resident of Holliston and Eastham, Mass. Born in Milwaukee, WI to the late John and Helen Bukovich. Beloved husband of Mary Ann (Sondich) Bukovich. Loving father of Joanna M. Dole of Natick, MA, Karen L. Rymsha of Newton, MA, Richard A. (Michele) of Fairfax, VA, and John S. (Kelly) of Reading, MA. Also survived by seven grandchildren: Monique, Erika, Christian, Kimberly, Andrew, Bridget, and Emily; and by three great-grandchildren: Gemma, Georgia, and Drew; and by many nieces and nephews.
A veteran of WWII, Art served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a fighter pilot, flight instructor, and test pilot. After the war he graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in mechanical engineering, and then enjoyed a long career as a District Sales Manager in the materials handling industry. Considered by many as an expert in his field, his colleagues and customers affectionately called him “Bucky”. Remembered for his “can-do” style, he was very active and well respected in Holliston town government having served on numerous boards and committees, both appointed and elected, including his role as Chairman of the Finance Committee.
As part of his love for the Cape, Art was instrumental in the formation of the Target View Beach Association (TVBA) in Eastham, including securing its now common association beach. In retirement, he enthusiastically served The Friends of the Eastham Public Library and the Eastham Council on Aging. In his limited spare time, he enjoyed sailing, tennis, cycling, and was an expert woodcarver.
Memorial service to be held at 10 AM Tuesday, May 20 at St. John the Evangelist Parish at 9 Glen Road in Wellesley Hills, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Art's memory to The Friends of the Eastham Public Library at 190 Samoset Road, Eastham, MA, 02642; or to the Eastham Council on Aging at 1405 Nauset Road, North Eastham, MA 02651.
