Boguslaw F. Holszanski, 73, of 205 Elm Street, Mystic River Congregate Housing, Noank, died Sunday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
He was born in 1930 in Sambor, Poland (now Ukraine) the son of Franciszek Dziad and Wladyslawa Potoczna. Mr. Holszanski was a lawyer in Poland. In 1977, he emigrated with his wife and two daughters to the United States. He worked in the legal profession in Philadelphia and New jersey before retiring to Onnecticut in 1992.
He was an avid collector of recordings of classical music and opera, especially early voices, and three times the owner of extensive collections of music. He also had an extensive knowledge of Western History.
He is survived by his wife, Zenona Holszanska of Noank, two daughters, Malgorzata (Gosia) Holszanska of Lyme, and Agnieszka Holszanska of Ledbetter, TX, and 4 grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, Groton on Friday at 1pm. Burial is private. There are no visiting hours. The family requests no flowers, and donations be made to WMNR "evening at the Opera", c/o Doug Fox, PO Box 920, Monroe CT 06468 (www.wmnr.org).
