Richard M. Poirier, 52 of Derry, NH died Wednesday May 7, 2014 in his home after a long battle with diabetes.
Richard was born in Biddeford, ME on May 12, 1961. After growing up in Somersworth, NH, he later graduated from Northeastern University with his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and had spent a long career employed as a security specialist with John Hancock Financial Services. Richard will be remembered for his devotion to God and Country, his sense of humor, and his love for his son, Joe.
Richard is survived by his son, Joseph P. Poirier of Derry, his father, Maurice Poirier of Wilmington, NC, his sister, Elaine Stone and her husband Kevin of Concord, NC, and their children Jennifer Crowther, Jordan Crowther, and Scott Stone. Richard is predeceased by his mother, Florence (Neault) Poirier.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday May 14, 2014 from 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
