Mary A. (Doherty) Meehan, 84, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at Southbridge Rehab and Health Center in Southbridge.
He husband of 60 years, William E. ‘Bill’ Meehan died December 16, 2012.
She leaves 5 children: Jane M. wife of William R. Tittle of Dudley, Paul W. Meehan, David A. Meehan and his companion Keena and Thomas M. Meehan all of Webster, and John F. Meehan and his wife Dawn of Dudley, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was born in Webster a daughter to the late Arthur L. and Mary (Curwin) Doherty and has lived in Dudley most of her life.
She was predeceased by 3 brothers; Robert A., William J. ’Bill’, and Joseph P. Doherty.
Mary worked as the secretary of the principal at Bartlett High School, Anthony J. Sitkowski for many years, then worked for 20 years as a librarian at the Pearle Crawford Library when she retired.
She was a member and lecturer at St. Anthony of Padua Church, a member of the St. Louis League of Catholic Women, loved to cook, was known by family and friends for her famous chocolate chip cookies and corn beef and cabbage. She and Bill travelled to Europe and also enjoyed going to Mayflower Beach in Dennis on Cape Cod.
Mary was generous to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary’s Funeral will be Monday, May 12, 2014 with a Mass at 11 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Rd. A Calling Hour will be Monday from 9:30AM to 10:30 AM prior to the Mass at the ROBERT J. MILLER FUNERAL HOME and LAKE CHAPEL, 366 School St., Webster.
