Rosaleen P. (Doyle) Begley, 93, of Methuen, passed into the arms of Our Lord May 8 at her home, surrounded by her devoted family. Born in County Antrim, Ireland, she came to the United States at age 2. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Sarah Doyle and graduated from Punchard High School in Andover. Rosaleen was a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Lawrence and was a daily communicant at several local churches. She was also a member of Our Lady’s Sodality, a testament to her love of the Blessed Mother.
Her greatest joy was her family, along with all of her many friends, who she considered as her family. With always a kind word, her first concern was for others above herself. Proud of her heritage, Rosaleen loved all things Irish, and was thrilled when she and her husband were able to return to the land of her birth in 1983. Her quick wit, love of family, and caring of others, through good deeds and prayers, were hallmarks of a life well-lived and will be sorely missed.
Rosaleen was predeceased by her loving husband Gerald Begley, who she wed in 1948, and is survived by her three children - Barry and his wife Deborah of Methuen, with who she resided, Maura and her husband Robert Fredette of Methuen, and Brian and his wife Helene of Wilmot, NH, along with grandchildren Brian Begley Jr. and wife Tiffany, Devin Begley, Robert Fredette II, Ryan Fredette and wife Ana, Caitlin Fredette, and Edward Fredette, and nieces Margaret McDonald and Mary Carleton. In addition to her late parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Margaret McDonald, Catherine Doyle, and Mary Doyle and her brothers, John, Francis, Thomas and Dr. Patrick Doyle.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Merrimack Valley Hospice, Home Health VNA, and Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley for their tireless efforts on behalf of our Mother.
