Louise (Porter) Bowers

Louise (Porter) Bowers, 93, of Anderson died May 8, 2014 at her residence after an extended illness.

Louise was born April 10, 1921 in Morris County, Texas to Ernest Estell and Myrtice (Strickland) Porter.

She graduated from Baylor University in Dallas, TX with a degree in nursing and registered nurse many years before retiring in 1984.

She moved to Anderson in 1954 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; Anderson Country Club; Tri Kappa; Mild-Century; Current Events Club and Victoria Guild where she was past president. She was a board member of Visiting Nurse Assoc. and Harter House.

Survivors include her three sons, Dr. Charles Richard "Rocky" (Jennifer) Bowers of Lexington, KY; Dr. William David "Corky" (Supratta) Bowers of Tampa, FL; daughter, Antonia Lee Wright of Anderson, IN; daughter-in-law Sarah Bowers of Wilson, NC; nephew, Jim Vaughan of Blain, MN; six grandchildren, Hunter, Allison, Leighla, Evan and Thomas Bowers and Richard Wright; step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Morgan and Lynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eron Vaughan and son Dr. Scott P. Bowers.

Service will be on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Kevin Bausman officiating burial at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be given to Christian Center, First Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
