Geraldine (Foley) Cochrane, age 81, died May 6, 2014. She was born on June 14, 1932, a daughter of the late Helen Foley. She married Robert W. Cochrane in 1956. He passed away in 1977. She graduated from West Springfield High School in 1950 and the Mercy Hospital School of nursing in 1953. Besides doing private duty nursing, she worked as a staff nurse at Mercy Hospital, Noble Hospital, the Geriatric Authority of Holyoke, Springfield Municipal and retired from Western MA Hospital in 1996. She kept her RN license until 2004 (51 years). She and her late husband were founding ban parents at Southwick High (1973-1981). She volunteered at Our Lady of the Lake Bingo and Sunshine Village Bingo till it closed in 2008. She was a member of the Mercy Hospital Alumni Association, West Springfield American Legion Auxiliary for over 55 years and various Catholic organizations. She was a communicant of St Rose de Lima and Holy Name of Jesus Parishes in Chicopee. She leaves her son Robert K of Chicopee, daughters, Mary (Serge) Dumont of Chicopee, Debra Cochrane and her former husband Carl Broughear of Richmond, VA and her grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan Dumont, Aemon, Aaron, Adrienne and Avery Broughear; She is predecease by her step brother Donald Stevens. She leaves her sister in law, Mary Cabana of NJ and June Stevens of Chicopee, her best friend Connie Hebert and her caregivers, Liz Lynch, Lauri Rossi, Sandy Graves, Deb Howard, Jackie and the Baystate VNA group as well as Sr. Francis White, SSJ. Calling hours are Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Friends are asked to meet at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church (104 Springfield St) on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11a.m. for the liturgy of Christian burial. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Shrine, 512 Saratoga St., Baltimore, MD 21201 or to the American Legion Post 207 Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1287, West Springfield, MA 01090.
