William H. Powell, Sr., 85, of Callahan passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
Mr. Powell was born April 14, 1929 in Moultrie, GA and moved to Callahan, FL 23 years ago from Jacksonville, FL.
Memberships include Thomas Creek Baptist Church and the Riverview Lodge #306 F and AM. He was a 3rd degree Mason and 32nd degree Scottish Rite.
Mr. Powell loved to go to church and was a devoted Christian. He was a deacon in the church for 50 years. He loved helping people.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Virginia M. Powell of Callahan, FL; a son and daughter in law, William Powell, Jr. and Beverly; a daughter, Willadean Powell, all of Callahan; two brothers, Wilber Powell of Jacksonville, FL and Lamar Powell of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Dr. Jason Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
