Obituary

Worcester – Marguerite (Mullaney) Spencer, 87, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, May 6th in the Millbury Healthcare Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Spencer was married to Robert O. Spencer, who died in 1999. She is survived by a son, Kevin Spencer and his wife Jean of Worcester; a daughter, Shirley Mandella and her husband Tom of Worcester; 5 brothers, William Mullaney of PA, Robert Mullaney of Upton, MA, John Mullaney of Winchendon, MA, Thomas Mullaney of Worcester, MA and Michael Mullaney of Florida; 2 sisters, Gertrude Votour of Auburn and Patricia Blankenship of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Marguerite was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Patrick and Marguerite (Rivers) Mullaney and is also predeceased by 2 daughters, Roberta Spencer who died in 2010 and Christine Laplume who died in 2014. She is also predeceased by 2 brothers, James and Larry Mullaney.

Mrs. Spencer worked at the former Brown Shoe Company and also was a day care provider and an Outreach Worker for the elderly though the Age Center of Worcester. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.

The funeral will be held Friday, May 9th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 in the funeral home before the funeral. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Massachusetts 898 Prospect Street Chicopee, MA 01020. Please note “South High Special Olympics” in the memo.
