Angela F. Corrado, of Wilmington and a former longtime resident of Medford passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday, May 4th, just ten day short of her 93rd birthday. "Tootie", as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was the beloved wife of the late Henry V. Corrado. Born in Boston she was one of three daughters of the late Henry and Angelina (Reni) Matera.
Tootie was raised in Medford and attended St. Clement Elementary School and graduated from St. Clement High School with the class of 1939. As a young lady, Tootie was an extremely talented dancer and was invited to New York City where she was given the opportunity to audition to be a Rockette and to dance professionally. Unfortunately, her father didn't agree that dancing in New York City was the right place for a young lady.
Following her marriage to Henry, the couple began their family and brought two beautiful daughters into the world. Tootie was a devoted wife and mother and homemaker. When her daughters were older she took a position with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and retired as a supervisor of clerks following 25 years of employment. Tootie was always impeccable when it came to fashion and her appearance. Many people would often remark on how beautiful she always looked especially given her age. Tootie cherished her role as a grandmother showering her grandchildren with that special and always unconditional love. That sparkle in her eyes grew even brighter once the great grandchildren started arriving. She loved being surrounded by her family enjoying the company of one another.
In her leisure time, Tootie enjoyed golfing, classic movies, but most of all sitting in the warmth of sun with a good book or magazine. She was a veracious reader and was always up to date with current events both in politics and the who's who of Hollywood. For many years she enjoyed wintering in Florida and was also a member of the Santa Maria Lodge of Medford.
Along with her late husband and parents, Tootie is predeceased by her son-in-law; Nick DelPeschio, grandson; Vincent DelPeschio and her sister; Irma McGrory.
She is survived by her devoted daughters; Angela DelPeschio of Tewksbury, Marie Dello Russo and her husband Fred of Wilmington. She was the loving nannie of Fred Dello Russo Jr., David Dello Russo and his wife Lisa, Nicole Bogie and her husband Brian, and Vincent’s surviving wife, Donna. She was the loving great nannie of Olivia, Julia and Ava Dello Russo, Isabella and Mattea DelPeschio, Madison and Brianna Bogie. Dear sister of Gloria Musto of Framingham. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
