Obituary

EAST LONGMEADOW – Jeannette M. (LaFaille) Boudreau, 95, of East Longmeadow, was Called Safely Home on Monday, March 3, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on January 15, 1919, a beloved daughter of the late Harvey and Eva (Labonte) LaFaille. At a young age, her parents moved to Waverly Street in the North End section of Springfield where she was raised. She attended local schools and graduated from the High School of Commerce. Jeannette married her husband, Joseph in 1942, and lived in Springfield before moving to East Longmeadow in 1965. She was previously employed as a merchandise arranger at the former Steiger’s Department Store in Longmeadow. During her younger years, Jeannette was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield. Jeannette was a faithful communicant of Saint Michael Church in East Longmeadow. Jeannette was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Her beloved husband and soul mate, Joseph A. V. Boudreau was Called Home on May 1, 2014. They were married on May 30, 1942 at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 71 years of happiness together.

EAST LONGMEADOW - Joseph A. V. Boudreau, 91, of East Longmeadow was Called Safely Home on Thursday, May 1, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on August 1, 1922, a beloved son of the late Joseph and Rose E. (Tremblay) Boudreau. He was raised in Springfield, graduated in 1939 from Cathedral High School, where he played football and hockey and lived in Springfield until 1965 when he moved to East Longmeadow. During his early years in Springfield, Joe was employed as a machinist at the former Springfield Armory. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the 11th Headquarters Detachment Special Troops 4th Army and attained the rank of Technician Fourth Grade. While serving his country, he became a driver for General Marcil Gelice of the 4th Army Infantry at Fort Hood, Texas. He received the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Springfield and was employed at the former Moore Drop Forge in Springfield. He later was employed as a machinist and then a foreman at the Stacy Machine and Tool which later became Kidder Stacy in Agawam and retired around 1984. Retirement was not for Joe, so he applied for and became a driver for then Springfield Bishop Joseph A. Maguire. Joe remained his driver after Bishop Maguire retired and drove him until 2013. Joe was well known throughout the Springfield Diocese where he and Bishop Maguire were often seen at many diocesan events and they attended hundreds of wakes and funerals throughout the area. Joe was a faithful communicant of Saint Michael Church in East Longmeadow. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Jeannette M. (LaFaille) Boudreau who was Called Home on March 3, 2014. Joe was 14 when he met the woman he was destined to spend his life with. He married his beloved Jeannette at the age of 19 and this May 30th they will spend their 72nd Wedding Anniversary in the Eternal City of Heaven. They leave their two loving children, Harvey D. Boudreau and Suzanne M. Duguay, both of East Longmeadow; their three cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Bradway and her husband, Steven, of West Springfield, Christine Izzo and her husband, Darryn, of Wilbraham, and Michelle Duguay of Whately, MA; their six cherished great-grandchildren whom they adored, Ethan and Jack Bradway, Anthony, Avery and Audrey Izzo, and Ryan Redmond; their dear sister and sister-in-law, Pearl Serrenho of Agawam; and their many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Boudreau and LaFaille families. Besides their parents, they were also predeceased by their loving son-in-law, Clifton W. Duguay, who was Called Home on November 7, 1997; and their dear brother-in-law, Joseph Serrenho who was Called Home on June 13, 2013. Joe was also predeased by his dear brothers and sisters, Eugene, Armand, Joseph, Conrad and Henri Boudreau, Antoinette Madden, Gertrude Murphy, Julianne Charon and Loretta Isabelle. Their relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Saint Michael Church, 110 Maple Street, East Longmeadow, MA 01028. Their burial will be private at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
