It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of William Joseph Marquis, 71, of Green Harbor, MA. Bill passed away on May 1, 2014 with his wife of 45 years by his side. Bill was born in Boston, MA on September 7, 1942. He graduated from Boston Trade High School for Boys. Upon his graduation he joined the Air Force and served his country for 3 years.
Bill enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Bill was a pipe welder for over 40 years before his retirement in 2006 at which time he was diagnosed with early on-set dementia. For the past four years he resided at Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Care Center which has become a second family to all of us.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife Pam of Green Harbor and their four children, Michelle Roney and her husband Kevin of Easton, MA, Scott Marquis and his wife Maureen of Rockland, MA, Nancy Crowley of Marshfield, MA, Jon and his wife Holly Marquis of Green Harbor, MA; and ten grandchildren, Michael, Dayna, Jonathan, Cameron, Colby, Dan, Caity, Emily, Dylan and Cameron; two brother in laws, Paul Olszowy of Carver and Tom Olszowy of Ashland and with several nieces and nephews. Bill was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Bagdis) and Joseph Marquis.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Thursday, May 8th from 4-7pm at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield.
