Rev. Carl H. Collier, 69, of Dallas, Georgia, formerly of Abbeville, Georgia, died Sunday, November 7, 2004, in Dallas, Georgia.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Revs. Lowell F. Brock, Allen Brock, Roy Woods, and James L. Rosser officiating. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Wilcox County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Monday evening.
Rev. Collier was born November 27, 1934, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Thomas L. and Ruby Lee Davis Collier. He was a retired pastor having started Home Mission Churches in McCaysville and Abbeville and assisted in the work of many other churches in the Pentecostal faith throughout the South. Rev. Collier also worked in construction and was a mechanic.
Rev. Collier is survived by his wife: Pearl “Frances” Smith Collier, Dallas, GA, formerly of Abbeville; two sons: Carl Ray Collier, Dallas, GA and Melvin E. Collier, Sr., McCaysville, GA; granddaughter: Tana Mia Shirae Collier, Ringgold, GA; grandson: Melvin “Ellis” Collier, II, McCaysville, GA; one brother: Donald W. Collier, Albany, GA; and four sisters: Ruby Jean Pool, Mary J. “Bunny” Dykes, and Linda Faye Black, all of Fitzgerald, and Judy F. Dowdy, Tifton. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
