Noel R. Metcalf

TEWKSBURY: Noel R. Metcalf, age 74, a Tewksbury resident for 49 years, formerly of Malden, passed away at the Wilmington Health Care Center on Friday, May 2, 2014, with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Jean P. (Nelson) Metcalf, with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on March 7, 2014.
Born in Somerville on December 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Ralph L. Metcalf and the late Anna M. (Oxton) Metcalf.
Noel was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School in 1957.
He later graduated from the University of Lowell, where he received his B.S. Degree in Business Administration.
Prior to his retirement, he served for over 40 years, as President of N.R. Metcalf Associates, Inc., a company which specialized in heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
Noel was an active 39 year member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church, where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Church Advisory Board.
He was a member of the Wamesit Lodge A.F. & A.M. and served on the Advisory Council for DeMolay, a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge # 2070, and was past president of the Tewksbury Jaycees Organization.
Noel enjoyed traveling, skiing and hunting. He was a PSIA Certified Ski Instructor/Trainer for over 40 years at Nashoba Valley in Westford, MA. Noel passed on his love of the sport to his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Richard A. "Rick" Metcalf and his wife Patricia of Acton, Kenneth W. Metcalf and his wife Mary Eileen of Wake Forest, NC, and Sandra J. Pomer and her husband Stephen of Groveland; six grandchildren, Richard Metcalf and his wife Kimberly, Courtney Peet, Nathan and Sophia Metcalf, Emily and Eric Pomer; one great grandson, Zander Quinn Metcalf; three siblings, Christine Lord and her husband Russ of Bonita Springs, FL, Marsha Agostino and her husband Paul of Wilmington, and Mark Metcalf and his wife Debra of Arlington, TX; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours Monday, May 5, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the Tewksbury Congregational Church, 10 East St., Tewksbury Center. Private interment will be at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
