Dr. Alan Richard Miller, MD, 77, of Windham, New Hampshire passed away on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 at the Warde Health Center in Windham, NH.
He was born on November 28th, 1936 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the
late John G. Miller, MD and Gertrude (Steinert) Miller of Lawrence, Ma.
Alan was a graduate of Phillips Academy in Andover. Dr. Miller received his Bachelor of Science and Chemistry and then continued to receive his Medical Doctorate from Tufts University School of Medicine. He served as Captain in the United States Air Force, Strategic Air Command at Loring AF Base in Limestone, Maine. He devised trauma-specific emergency kits for USAF article published in the USAF Medical Digest. He was a staff member for over 35 years at Lawrence General Hospital and Holy Family Hospital, and chaired many committees. He served many local nursing homes, and was Medical Director at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home and Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation . He also served as Medical Director of the Greater Lawrence Visiting Nurses Association in the 1980’s.
Alan was the loving husband of 54 years of the late Theresa R. (Ciaraldi) Miller who passed away in 2012.
He is survived by his son Alan R. Miller, II and his wife Patricia of Windham, NH , his granddaughters Lindsay and Amanda Miller. He is also survived by his brother Edward S. Miller, DMD and his wife Dorothy Miller of Sanibel Island, FL., as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Scott Michael Miller, who passed in 1995.
