Lillian L. Gaines, 91, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Phoebe Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, May 2, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Hand and the Rev. Keith Gaines officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gaines was born March 5, 1923 in Ben Hill County Georgia to the late Charles Jerome and Lovey Bell Elliott. She was a former employee of the Monarch Company and worked as a nurse’s aide at the Ben Hill County Hospital. Mrs. Gaines lived in Ben Hill County all of her life and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ben Hill County.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Melvin & Marie Gaines and Gary & Shirley Gaines; a daughter: Brenda Hancock, all of Fitzgerald; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister: Josie & Dennis Odom of Decatur. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: J. B. Gaines and a great-grandson: Joey Huckaby.
