TAUNTON – Gilda (Pereira) Botelho, wife of the late Manuel R. Botelho, died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on April 28, 2014.
She was 91.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joao M. Pereira and Maria A. (Martins) Pereira.
A resident of Taunton since 1968, she was by employed by the Taunton Dress Company where she worked as a seamstress for many years before retiring at the age of sixty two.
Mrs. Botelho enjoyed knitting, tatting, sewing and making clothes for herself and her family.
Family oriented, she helped raise and care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time and traveling with them.
She was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church. S
Survivors include a son, Louis M. Botelho and his wife Mary C. of Berkley; a daughter, Mary Cunha and her husband Gilbert of Taunton; two sisters, Natalia Castro of Ontario, Canada and Geraldina Tavares of Taunton; four grandchildren, Kimberly Coelho of Taunton, Scott Botelho of New Bedford, Stephen Botelho of the U.S. Army and David Cunha of Middleboro; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Manuel M. and Jose M. Pereira, and the late Amelia Martins. Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, May 2nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
