Catherine J. "Sissy" Ringwood

TEWKSBURY: Catherine J. "Sissy"(Doherty) Ringwood, age 65, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Lowell General Hospital, with her family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of Retired Tewksbury Police Detective, Paul R. Ringwood, with whom she celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on November 16, 2013.
Born in Cambridge on February 13, 1949, she was the daughter of the late William A. Doherty and the late Dorothy F. (Arthur) Doherty.
Sissy attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1966.
Prior to her illness, she worked for several years at Victoria's Restaurant located in the Tewksbury Holiday Inn.
Sissy loved life, to laugh and the love of her family and friends. In addition, she enjoyed traveling on cruise vacations with her husband and family, taking numerous trips to Disney World, and summering at Hampton Beach.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Kelley A. Ringwood of Winthrop and Scott A. Ringwood of Tewksbury; three brothers, William A. Doherty, Jr. and his wife Beverly, Stephen J. Doherty and his wife Debra all of Haverhill, and Kevin R. Doherty of Tewksbury; two brothers-in-law, Edward J. Ringwood of Tyngsboro and John Ringwood and his wife Maryjane of Florida; her sister-in-law, Linda Bottis and her husband Richard of Fountain Valley, CA; close friends, Barbara Doherty and Christine Hirsh; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 1, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by a prayer service to be held in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sissy's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
