Thomas E. McGuinness, 64

Dateline: Norton: MA

Thomas E. McGuinness, age 64, of Norton passed away surrounded by his loving family, in the comfort of his home on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
He was the beloved husband of the late Janice M. (Sullivan) McGuinness, to whom he was wed for 35 years at the time of her death on May 12, 2006.
Born in Boston, MA on March 2, 1950, he was a son of the late James and Evelyn (Hatch) McGuinness. He spent his early childhood living in the Hyde Park section of Boston. His family later moved to Norton where he grew up and was a graduate of Norton High School.
For over 30 years, Tom had worked as a truck driver for Sysco in Norton and had previously worked as a mechanic for the former Fernandes Supermarkets in Norton.
A resident of Norton for over 50 years, Tom along with his family was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton.
When not spending time with family and friends, Tom’s passion in life was cars. He enthusiastically enjoyed attending car shows, projects at his garage and was a familiar face at cruise nights held at Honey Dew Donuts in Norton.
Tom will be remembered for many things, but most of all for his remarkable sense of humor and making others around him smile and laugh.
He is survived by his devoted children; Shawn T. McGuinness and his wife Melissa, Amy B. McGuinness-Karcher and her husband Matthew, Lauri A. McGuinness, Thomas F. McGuinness, and Kerri L. McGuinness all of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Kaylee, Ella, Madison, Eddie, and Alexis. He was the brother of the late Frances Connolly and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 30th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 29th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
