James R. Selvitella, age 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 4 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford. Born in Boston, MA he was the son of the late Angela (Migliore) & James Selvitella.
Jim, as he was known, graduated Medford High School, class of 1938. After high school he attended classes at Northeastern University where he received his Associates Degree. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served for over 3 years. From December of 1943 to January of 1944 he was stationed in Dakar, Africa. Jim was discharged in December of 1945 and enrolled in Boston University where he received a Law Degree. After passing the bar in 1949 he went to work for the New England Motor Rate Bureau as a rate analyst. Jim worked there for over 35 years and retired in 1986. In his retirement Bob enjoyed reading and classical music.
Jim is survived by his brother Arthur Selvitella and his wife Barbara of Medford, Sisters Catherine Sullivan and her husband Cornelius of Burlington, and Rita Tomolillo of Medford and her late husband Frank. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Monday November 8 at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
