William E. McLaughlin, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his home in Charlestown following an extended illness. He was 67 years old.
Bill was born in Medford on September 14, 1946, a son of the late Francis McLaughlin and Elizabeth (Morris) McLaughlin. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. Bill worked as a security guard at The Charlestown Naval Shipyard for over 20 years.
Bill is the beloved husband of the late Eleanor M. "Ellie" (Bowden) McLaughlin. He is the devoted father of Christine Fitzpatrick and her husband James of Melrose, Colleen McLaughlin of Webster and the late William E. McLaughlin Jr. He is the loving Papa to Jimmy, Ryan, Braden, Jeremia, Frankie, Pattric, Pattria, Brenna, Adam and great-Papa to Kayla and Teagan. He is the beloved brother of Francis McLaughlin and the late Elizabeth McLaughlin and Michael McLaughlin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill's Funeral on Tuesday April 29, 2014 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
