Obituary

Mrs. Mildred A. (Ames) Courcy, of Taunton, died Thursday, April 24 in Longmeadow of Taunton following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest “Bird” Courcy. She was born 93 years ago in Berkley, the daughter of the late Frank E. and Ruth R. (Horton) Ames. She was educated in Berkley and Dighton and was a graduate of the former Morton Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her retirement, Mildred had been employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Taunton State Hospital for 15 years. She was previously employed at Taunton Nursing Home. She enjoyed traveling and dining out. She was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Parish in North Dighton.
She leaves: 2 sons: Philip R. Courcy and his wife, Susan of Wakefield, and William A. Courcy of East Harwich; 4 daughters: Jacqueline A. Kieser and her husband, Robert of Montana, Mary L. Rihbany of Taunton, Janet R. Grandmont and her husband, Butch of Raynham, and Marguerite E. Mendes and her husband, Joseph of Taunton; a beloved sister-in-law: Theresa Courcy of Taunton; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Tuesday, April 29 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, No. Dighton, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Longmeadow of Taunton Activities Fund, 68 Dean Street, Taunton, Ma., 02780.
