Mary M. Monahan, a 6 year resident of The Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence in Somerville and former 20 year resident of Medford and longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge following a lengthy illness. She was 89 years old.
Mary was born in Boston on October 27, 1924, a daughter of the late Percy L. Monahan and Mary (Edgerton) Monahan. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from St. John's High School in North Cambridge. She worked for many years as an Inspector for T.R.W. Car Fastener Company in Cambridge.
Mary is the beloved sister of the late William J. Monahan. She is the loving aunt of William Monahan of Somerville, Thomas Monahan of Malden, Ellen Henderson of Medford and the late James Monahan. She is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's visiting hours on Monday morning, April 28, 2014 from 9 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. at The Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
