Henry G. “Pete” Martel 83, of Newton St. died Tuesday at Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Centre. He was the wife of Claire (Savard) Martel. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Ida (Demers) Martel.
Mr. Martel worked in the receiving department of the Big D Supermarket for twenty one years. He had also worked as a sales supervisor for Leo’s Pastries and a delivery person for Car Quest Auto Parts before retiring in 1995. Pete was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Belhumeur-Duhamel Post #62.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Denis N. Martel of Lincoln, two granddaughters, a great- grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Normand Martel.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland.
