LACONIA – Martha H. Simmons, 93, of 21 Ledges Drive, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Taylor Community at Ledgeview.
She was born on February 22, 1921 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Dr. Lewis F. and Alice L. (Haskell) Heath. She worked for many years for her father as a Dental Assistant. Martha was a member of the Opechee Garden Club, the Mary Butler Chapter of the D.A.R., a member of the Gilford Hills Tennis Club and was a talented decorative artist. She also worked as a volunteer for the Lakes Region General Hospital.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Suzanne Simmons of Alton, NH and a daughter, Tina C. Simmons of Aiken, S.C., four grandchildren, Mark Simmons and his wife Tracey, Ian Hoelzel, Rachel Donnelly and Shannon Donnelly; two great grandchildren Lauren and Grace; numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Vernon A. Simmons in 2005, sister Carolyn Kennedy and brother Fuller Heath.
There will be no calling hours.
A private graveside service will be held at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia.
