Raymond M. Silva Jr. 79 of Methuen passed away on April 22, 2014 at his late residence. Mr. Silva was born in Lawrence on August 1, 1934 to Raymond M. Silva Sr. and Flora (Ianazzo) Silva. He was educated in the Lawrence School System and attended the Lawrence High School. Following his education at Lawrence High School, Raymond joined the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He was very proud of his service to his country. Raymond was the owner and operator of Meg's Diner on Essex St. in Lawrence. He was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. Following his retirement from the USPS, Raymond was a long time card dealer at the Rockingham Racetrack in Salem, NH. Mr. Silva was a member of the Bavarian Club, the N.E. Showmen's Association, the Marine Corps League and enjoyed puzzles.
Mr. Silva was the loving husband of the late Mary (Giarrusso) Silva. He was the devoted father of Cheryl Wood and her husband Mark, Charlene Franz and her husband Daniel, Charlotte Misuraca and her husband Kevin, Alan Silva and Christine Silva. He was the cherished son of Flavia (Ianazzo) Silva and the late Raymond M. Silva Sr. Raymond was the dear brother of Robert Silva and his wife Delores and the late Anthony Silva. He was the loving grandfather of James, Adam, Scott, Danielle, Joshua, Jennifer and Erin. Raymond is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen, MA 01844. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Corpus Christi/Holy Rosary Church of Lawrence with entombment to follow at the Mother of Consolation Mausoleum at St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758518 Topeka, KS 66675. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral is honored to serve the Silva Family.
