Nicholas Thomas Solano, 40, of Derry, formerly of Melrose, MA, passed Saturday, April 19, 2014 , surrounded by his loving family at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a lengthy illness. He was born January 9, 1974 in Winchester, MA and was a son of Joseph and Margaret (McCarthy) Solano. He was raised and educated in Melrose. He was a graduate of N. E. Regional Vocational School and Wentworth Institute of Technology. He lived most of his life in the Melrose area and had relocated recently to NH to be close to family.
Mr. Solano was employed in the construction trades, including Lowes for many years. He loved NASCAR racing, was especially a Jimmy Johnson fan and will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother and uncle.
In addition to his parents of Derry, Mr. Solano is survived by two brothers and their wives, Michael and Laurie Solano of Windham, NH and Christopher and Tracy Solano of Derry, NH, beloved nieces and nephew, Kaylee, Brianna and Mikey and his great nephew Luka, his companion of many years, Judy Riess and her daughters, Amanda, Laura and Jessica, as well as his beloved cat, Salem.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, April 23 from 4pm to 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, April 24, at 10am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church of Derry. After cremation, burial was held at Forest Hill Cemetery of E. Derry.
