John V. Bond, 74

John V. Bond, age 74, of Norton, formerly of Norwood passed away in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Nancy H. (Hope) Bond to whom he was wed for the past 52 years.
Born in Newark, New Jersey on November 19, 1939, he was a son of the late Charles and Eileen (Butler) Bond.
He grew up and was educated in New Jersey. From 1959-1962, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of SP4. He later went on to graduate from Boston College.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Bond was a self-employed contractor for North American Van Lines and had previously worked for many years as a systems analyst at the Prudential Insurance Co. in Boston.
A resident of Norton for the past 4 ½ years, John had previously made his home in Norwood for many years. His family was truly his main interest and the focal point of his life.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters; Susan Sampson and her husband Stephen of Attleboro, Joan Badger and her husband Paul of North Attleboro and Donna Foti of Mansfield. He was the dear brother of Robert Bond and William Bond both of New Jersey, and is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Paul and Stephanie Badger, Alexander, Charles and Madelyn Sampson, and Jesse and Joey Foti, as well as several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 23rd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Military honors will be performed at the conclusion of services with burial to be held privately.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
