Mrs. Grace Helena (Tanner) Coyne, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late John J. Coyne, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Monday, April 14, 2014. She was 95 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 30, 1918, she was the beloved daughter of the late Elmer F. and Grace M. (Haynie) Tanner. Mrs. Coyne was employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, for many years, as a Service Observer. In her spare time, she loved reading, walking and dancing at the Medford Senior Center. She loved her cat, Dusty. She was grateful for her longtime friendship with Anne Marie Reed and Rose Gubellini. Grace and her husband John served as eucharistic ministers at Sacred Heart Church in Medford. She was known to her family as “aunt cis” and her mashed potatoes and brownies were always requested for family get-togethers.
She will be sorely missed by her loving nieces and nephews; Bonnie M. and her husband Gary C. Everbeck of North Reading, Cheryl A. Bonitz of Haverhill, Ronald P. Bonitz of Omaha, Nebraska, Patricia and her husband Anthony Romano of Plymouth, Carol Tracia, William L. and his wife Sandra Tanner and Diane and her husband Richard Petruccelli, all of East Boston and Virginia and her husband Nick Atkinson of Florida.
Her funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 518 High Street, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April, 21, 2014, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
