Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Dimitra (Stavroulakis) Milidakis, 81, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Good Friday, April 18, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and Father Christopher Stamas, Pastor of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She was born in Selino, Crete, Greece on April 23, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Ioannis and Eleni (Frangakis) Stavroulakis. She was raised in Selino, Crete, Greece and came to Springfield on October 1, 1971 where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was employed for many years by the Carando Corporation in Springfield and retired in 1994. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Active in her faith, she was a faithful communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. She was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society of the Cathedral and the Proodos Cretan Club. She leaves her beloved husband, Emmanuel Milidakis of Springfield; her four loving children, Georgia Lisee of Feeding Hills, Antonia Kamyk and her husband, Karl, of Wilbraham, Rula Cady and her husband, Matthew, of Easthampton, and Peter Milidakis and his wife, Lynnette, of Agawam; her seven cherished grandchildren, Jason and Samantha Lisee, Nikolas Kamyk, Alaina and Jordan Cady, and Mia Katerina and Joseph Emmanuel Milidakis; her dear brother, John Stavroulakis of Greece, her three dear sisters, Maria Frantzeskakis of Springfield, Argiro Stavroulakis of Agawam, and Irene Tzoutzourakis and her husband, John, of Greece; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Milidakis and Stavroulakis families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Manolis and Niko Stavroulakis; and her sisters, Electra Stavroulakis and Georgia Michelakis. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 Saint George Road, Springfield, MA 01104.
