Elmer James Blair, 84, of Ventura, Passed away on Friday Morning April 18, 2014.
Elmer was born December 3, 1929 in Creighton, Nebraska and was a Ventura County resident for the past 59 years coming here from Oregon.
Elmer worked as a production manager for 27 years for West Foods Mushroom Plant. After his retirement he went to work for South Coast Area Transit as a bus driver for 15 years and retired in 1993. He then went to work for the Ventura Unified School District as a Crossing Guard for 4 years. Elmer was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He treasured spending time with his family. Elmer was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in the yard, working on remodeling projects.
Elmer is survived by his wife Flora. They would have celebrated their 42nd Wedding Anniversary on July 1. Daughters Cookie Choate and her husband Phil of Monterey and Sandra Snow and her husband David of Waterford; step daughter Natalie Davidson and her husband Don of Ventura; son Terry Blair and his wife Somdet of Oxnard; step-son Bill Lobaugh of Ventura; sisters Gertrude Jones of Louisiana and Darlene Seabourn of Oregon; brothers Don Blair of Arkansas and Danny Blair of Oregon; step-grand daughter Amy Davidson; grandchildren Brad, Alisha, Daniel, Justin, and Christopher; great grandchildren Kalee and Kyndle Choate, David and Andrew Erwin, Alexander and Madison Blair, Flora and Justin Blair.
Preceded in death by his son Larry Blair; parents Earl James Blair and Ona Mae Blair; brothers Dick and Ralph Blair; sisters Mary Witworth, Dorothy Wilson, and Renee Blair; grandson Jeffrey Choate.
The family would like to thank the staff of Treacy Villa and Livingston Memorial Hospice for their loving care of Elmer during his battle with Alzheimer's.
In lieu of flowers please honor Elmer with a memorial donation to the Ventura County Alzheimer's Association 80 Wood Road Camarillo, CA 93010.
