SOCKWELL - Ava Marie Sockwell, 54, passed away Tuesday evening, April 16, 2014 at the Community Hospice St. Vincent's Riverside facility.
Mrs. Sockwell was born September 18, 1959 in Orange Park, FL and was, otherwise, a life-long resident of Jacksonville, FL.
She attended The River Church in Jacksonville. Ava was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren, a best friend to all of her kids and sisters, and an instant friend to anyone she met. She loved animals, her family, her friends, the Lord, and life, and although she will be greatly missed, we rejoice that she is with Jesus and smiling down on us.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Thomas "Mikey" Shower, III; her mother, Wilma D. Stephens; father, Robert William Stephens; and a brother in law, Dale M. Simmons.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Elaine and Douglas Zmuda of Jacksonville, FL, Crystal and Mike Shower of Waterloo, IA; a son and daughter in law, Cecil and Amy Sockwell of Clinton, MO; three sisters, Rene' Simmons, Deborah Axelson and Pamela Rohloff; and five grandchildren, Thomas, Jaxson, Jace, Lana and Cecil, III..
A memorial service will be held Satuday, April 19,at 11:00 a.m. at The River Church, 1820 Monument Rd. in Jacksonville with Pastor Phil Ward officiating.
