Obituary

WEST GLOUCESTER –Rose E. “Betty” (Corliss) Moses, 80, died Saturday morning, April 12, 2014, just after her last rites were given at the Addison Gilbert Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of James J. Moses, Sr.
Born in Gloucester on April 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose (Pacheco) Corliss. She was a lifelong resident and had attended Gloucester public schools.
When her children were grown, Betty was employed by Action, Inc. for many years as a home health aide.
She was an excellent cook and loved making Lebanese food. She enjoyed arts and crafts, spending time in her garden, knitting baby blankets and going to Mohegan Sun. She and Moe also enjoyed their weekly trips to New Hampshire.
The most important roles in her life were being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; her family was her world. She had a sweet and gentle nature and was always so appreciative and grateful for the simple things in life. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jacqueline Moses-Robinson, Cynthia H. Moses, Joanne M. and Hugh Harris, and Karen and Aaron Beauparlant; three sons and daughters-in-law, James J. Moses, Jr., Peter and Rachel Moses, Wayne D. and Renee Moses and Sheila Moses; grandchildren, Rachel, wife of Nathan Farrar, Tasha Rose Robinson, Gregory M. Moses, Jr., Stephanie, wife of Joseph Blanchard, Amber Rose Moses, Rose Sheehan, Tanya Taylor, Max and Ryan Harris, Cassandra and Garrett Moses, Taylor and Celia Rose Beauparlant, great-grandchildren, Hunter and Brandon Farrar, Shania and Cheyenne Pacheco, Crystal Stillman, Adelina Blanchard, Savannah and Tariq Moses; her sister-in-law, Orient Provost and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three sons, Paul S. Moses, Thomas W. Moses and Gregory M. Moses, Sr.; her sister, Ethel Hardy, an infant brother, William Corliss; her sister-in-law, Rita Strescino; and brothers-in-law, Robert, Thomas Moses and John J. “Jack” Moses.
Her prayer service will be held on Friday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held privately in the Calvary Cemetery.
