Gordon W. Lewis Sr., 72, of Newton, who had worked as a plumber for Harvard University in Cambridge, died Tues Nov 2, 2004 at Beth Israel Medical Center West Campus in Boston after a long battle with Mesothelioma .Mr. Lewis grew up in the West End of Boston and worked as plumber at the Navy yard in Boston. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Bronze Star. He worked at Harvard University from 1962 until his retirement in 1982, and had been a resident of Newton for 42 years. He was a member and former Vice Chairman of the Veteran Motor Car Club of America and the Ford Model A Club.He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Frorillo) Lewis, his children Gordon W. Lewis Jr. of Boylston and his twin daughters Dorothy A. and Deborah A. Lewis both of Ashland; his granddaughters Casey and Katrina Lewis. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Melvin Lewis and Barbara Lewis both of Falmouth, Laura Lewis of Holbrook, Florence Ann Capostagno of Weymouth, and Charles Lewis of Falmouth and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth LaPorte.A visiting hour will be held on Fri Nov 5 from 11 to Noon in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner followed by a funeral service in the Newton Cemetery Chapel 791 Walnut St. Newton Centre at Noon.
