Frances Katherine (Austin) Strong, 88, of Waynesboro, TN died at her daughter's residence.
She was born on August 8, 1925 in Portland, Tenn. to John Thomas and Nina (Empson) Austin.
She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Anderson; former member of First Baptist Church in Muncie.
She worked 10 years at Ball State University Food Service in the salad room; Strong's Market; Meijer and tutored in the Muncie School System at Morrison Mock School.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Rockin Red Birds of Ball State. She read, played the organ and was very active in church.
Survivors include her daughter, Priscilla (Ron) Dygert of Waynesboro, TN; son Merle (Vickie) Strong of Anderson; her sister, Rachel Thompson of South Haven, Miss.; four grandchildren, Tammi (Casey) Fitzgerald of Noblesville; Mandi (Randy) Garner of Sheridan; Jon (Laura) Dygert of Waynesboro, TN; Shaun Dygert of Waynesboro, TN; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willie H. Strong whom she married June 15, 1946 died November 1, 1976 and three brothers.
Service is 11:00 A.M. on Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Dennis Zirkle of Meadowbrook Baptist Church officiating with burial in Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
Visitation is Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
