Obituary

Charlotte Frances Gottberg, 78 years old, passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2014 in Milford, MA after an extended illness. The beloved wife of Henry Joseph Gottberg, they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 23rd, 2014.
Born in North Georgetown, Ohio on July 9th, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Gladys Mead. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1953 and went on to receive a Teaching Certificate from Kent State University in 1955. She first taught in Damascus, Ohio, and the New Springfield School District. She was also a nursery school teacher at the Mother Goose Nursery School in Youngstown,Ohio for several years. She began teaching first grade at the McKinley School in Lisbon, Ohio in 1968 until her retirement in June of 1990. While working, she attended and graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1971.
She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a Deacon at the former Trinity Presbyterian Church in Lisbon, Ohio. She also coached softball and led a 4-H group. She and her husband loved to host gatherings on their farm in Lisbon. After selling their farm, they lived in Salem, Ohio for five years before relocating to Ft. Myers, Florida where they enjoyed fifteen years with family and friends. Henry and Charlotte moved to Franklin, MA in 2010 to live with family due to declining health.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Gottberg, of Franklin, MA, her daughter, Debra, and her husband, Gary of Franklin, MA, her daughter, Melanie Wagner, and her husband Randy, of Willard, Ohio. She is also survived by her son, Matthew Gottberg, living in Idaho.
She adored her grandchildren and is survived by Marc Stiffler(Veronica) of Orlando, Florida, Eric Stiffler(Kayla) of Brighton, MA, Traci Stiffler of Syracuse, New York, Tyler Wagner of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cory Wagner(Malenia)of Willard, Ohio and Christopher Gottberg of Mt. Joy, PA. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Kelly Gottberg and two great-grandsons.
Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Mead. She is survived by a sister, Lois Popa(Nick) of Pickerington, Ohio and a brother, Gary Mead(Jan) of Logan, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Marina Willer of Leawood, Kansas and many nieces and nephews She was the beloved friend of Donna Ritteger and Carol McGaffick of Lisbon, Ohio and Jan Dorak of Ft. Myers, Florida.
A Memorial Service will be held on April 26th, 2014 at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church on 111 East Chestnut Street, Lisbon, Ohio at 11:00 am. Family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlotte’s name can be made to the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church.
