Janet (Goodwin) Hawkins of Duxbury died peacefully at her home on April 7, 2014. She was 75.
She is survived by her son Daniel Hawkins of Duxbury, Nathaniel Hawkins of Exeter NH, Sarah Hawkins of Ellicott City MD, and Julie Hawkins of Boxford MA. She also leaves behind her sister Pamela Patton of Chatham, her six grandchildren; Jackson, Benjamin, Claire, John, Megan, Henry and one great grandson William. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Brockton and grew up in Wellesly Hills and Wrentham. She graduated from Connecticut College in 1960 and shortly after married Steven Henry Hawkins of Newton. They moved to Duxbury in 1961 and lived in the same house on Standish Shore for the rest of their lives, first with their children and then with several generations of Newfoundland dogs. Mrs.Hawkins was an avid gardener, reader and conservationist. As one of her neighbors noted, "In all that she did, Janet was a determined woman". In accordance with her wishes, services will be private.
