Worcester—Miriam (Mangsen) Soden, 88, formerly of 33 Fairhaven Road, died Sunday, October 31, 2004, at Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill at the Odd Fellows Home where she had been living for the past 4 months. She leaves a son, Paul R., and his wife, Susan (Henchey) Soden, of Leicester; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorcas M. Kreny of Holden; 2 brothers, Everett Mangsen and his wife, Mary, of Worcester and David Mangsen of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Howard C. Soden; sons, William H. and Donald C. Soden; and 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
She was born April 4, 1916, daughter of Herman and Alma (Laxell) Mangsen. She retired from Astra Pharmaceutical in 1981. She was a member of Greendale People’s Church.
At Miriam’s request, her body is to be given to the Medical School at the University of Massachusetts. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Greendale People’s Church. Burial will be private.
