Melvin Robert Sandlin
Feb. 28, 1926 to April 7, 2014

Melvin Robert Sandlin, 88, of Anderson died April7, 2014 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born February 28, 1926 in Camden, Missouri to Charles Tildon and Nora Sandlin.

He served in the U. S. Army and the U.S. Navy for eleven years.

He worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber in production and janitorial a total of 30 years before retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Vermillion Friends Church in Alexandria.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially football, baseball and basketball. He liked to bowl, fish and swim.

He is survived by his son, David Sandlin; three grandsons, Joseph Sandlin, James Sandlin and John Sandlin all of Anderson; two great grandsons, Jordan Sandlin and Isaiah Sandlin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Jean Sandlin died in 2008; two brothers, Fielden Sandlin and Roy Sandlin and two sisters, Ethel Barnes and LaVerne White.

Service will be 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service
with Pastor Fred Burke of Vermillion Friends officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the Service at 1 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery in Muncie with military graveside rites.

Memorial contributions may be given to the veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
